A passion for creating

Annette Oughton

Annette Oughton has always had a passion for creating beautiful garments.

Born into a Hawke's Bay farming family, Annette was always surrounded by her mother's creative talents as a tailoress and talented seamstress. From a young age creating and making became part of her life.


Upon leaving school Annette attended Wellington Polytechnics Clothing & Textile course in the late 70`s. Winning the House of Raymond award Annette was given the opportunity to work as a design trainee for a further 2 years.


After working for several fashion houses in NZ and Australia as a pattern maker - designer, Annette decided to take the step to open her own boutique in Parnell in October 1988.


For many years Annette designed and worked with clients to create one off garments for their special occasions. This includes hundreds of Bridal Gowns, Mother of the Bride & Groom outfits, Evening Wear & Race Wear.


Career highlights include - being a finalist in the Benson & Hedges Fashion awards After Five Wear, for 3 consecutive years, many years of being involved in fashion parades and having her own in house parades.
Judge & Sponsor of Fashion in the fields at Ellerslie Racecourse for a number of years.


Annette's designs her garments taking into account her clients requirements. She has a love of beautiful fabrics and can source from New Zealand and Overseas. Quality fabrics have timeless appeal. Annette works with her clients to create a made to measure garment to compliment their figure.
