The Deco Inspiring show for 2010 will revolve around a train journey through some of Europes most well known cities. A journey of intrigue and mystery aboard the " Orient Express " during the 1920s.
The Orient Express was designed as a rolling Luxury Hotel which had its original journey in 1886 and ran from Paris to Istanbul and back again. The aim was to connect Europe with one train direct. It became the most famous train in Europe with its separate private compartments and own bathroom so travellers could sleep in comfort. Each compartment had its own steward to wait on their clients every need.It became a source of entertainment with secret redezvous behind closed doors.
In 1919 the Simplon Orient Express was created due to many changes that came about after WW1 and the issues within central Europe at the time. Our journey will begin on the return trip from Istanbul and will follow the old route to Belgrade where it will then connect to the new route via Zagreb, Trieste, on to Venice through Switzerland then to Paris.
Deco Inspiring is a show that draws inspiration from the Art Deco Era that was full of change.
Fashion was continually changing hem lengths and silhouettes, societies attitudes were
changing toward women and what they could or couldn't do.
So it is appropriate that as we go through this period of change now, we can draw from past
and future inspirations and enjoy this journey we are all on. As a family we have all found
ourselves pulling on skills we never realised we had, so I feel very blessed to have such a
great family involved in a wonderful creative experience.
